This set of hymns sung by the Orthodox church are beautiful and rich in doctrine…worth a meditative read in my opinion.
Listen, O heaven and give ear, O earth. Let the foundations be shaken, let trembling seize the regions beneath the earth; because God and the Creator has put on the matter of flesh, and he who created creation with his mighty hand appears in the womb of a creature he fashioned.

The online YLCF Book Society exists to provide a forum of Christian fellowship, literary critique, and fun for ladies who cannot meet with a local group. We will read a new book each month and discuss it as we go. The titles will be from a variety of genres: poetry, history, ancient literature, novels, and biographies.
- Christian young ladies aged sixteen and older, married or single, are welcome to join.
- To request membership join the Tea Table and then email us or apply at the Tea Table.
- Please include the following (at your discretion): name, location, age, and why you love reading.
- We reserve the responsibility to postpone, refuse, or cancel membership (with explanation) as needed for the safety and good of the Society.
- Discussion of each book will be open for the entire month. At the beginning of a new month the previous meeting will be “concluded” and comments on that entry closed.
- For the benefit of all, we ask that each members try to enter the discussions and fellowship. Though we understand shyness, any “lurkers” who do not participate for two or more months will be removed (from the Society only, not the Tea Table) until they are able/desire to take part.

Ancient Words… who can resist the pull of another soul’s thoughts from centuries past? Lately I’ve been disciplining myself to read the old works: Shakespeare, early Church Fathers, etc. No one can replicate the richness of those writings from centuries past. What a privilege we enjoy with all the great works literally at our fingertips! May we not pass by this opportunity to see through the eyes of those who walked before us.
Lately I’ve been tidying up the library a bit more in anticipation of opening after my wedding. The entire design changed yesterday; today book after book was placed on the shelves. I’ve begun decorating the area around the Tea Table and am hopeful that some young ladies will want to join me in a little Book Society. If only we could sit face-to-face…but in the absence of such I will take a hearty discussion through words online. If we share a love and passion for goodness, truth, and beauty our bond is strong. I’ve written this post at least three times. Is it some sort of ironic gesture that it won’t seem to stay online? WordPress is a bit frightening when it eats my posts or pages. Also swirling through my head is whether I can keep up this site and YLCF. Lanier does it…and I must confess to liking the idea of a personal site on which I can publish things that do not fit with the YLCF vision and purpose. What do you think? Will this manage to stay alive?
